IRAN, Qajars. Muhammad Shah, AH 1250-1264 / AD 1834-1848. Toman (Gold, 20 mm, 3.44 g, 12 h), type T, Tehran, AH 1264 = AD 1847/8. Within a dotted circle, a lion standing to left, holding a sword in its right hand, and a rising sun, all surrounded by a wreath; crown above. Rev. Within a square surrounded by floral designs and a dotted circle, ‘shāhanshah-e anbiyā Mohammad / zarb-e dār al-khilāfa Ṭehrān / 1264’ (‘King of the Prophets, Muhammad. Struck in the Abode of the Caliphate Tehran. 1264’ in Persian). Album 2905. Very rare. The flan slightly wavy and with a few minor die breaks on the obverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
